I’m Madeleine Johnson, born and raised a Mountaineer, however, I didn’t grow up in West Virginia. I was always envious of my cousins, who got to experience life together amongst our close-knit, large family in Richwood, a small town in central West Virginia. My parents and I were located about five hours and some change away in Central, MD. But, even though we were in Maryland, I learned from a very young age that Mountaineer football Saturday’s were to be treated like a holiday.
When the time came to start applying to colleges, it was a no brainer. I am the youngest out of my entire family and every single person before me was a student at West Virginia University. So, naturally, it was the only school I applied to. At WVU, I study strategic communications and business. I am an active member of the Public Relations Student Society of America, the Pre-Legal Society, and the National Society of Leadership and Success.
I am very interested in the law. Upon earning my undergraduate degree, I plan to go to law school.
I have a passion for West Virginia, and want everyone to be as envious of this state as I was growing up. My life goal is to work at the West Virginia State Capitol and use all of my areas of study in an effort to make West Virginia a better place.
